Helsinki Whiskey Rye Malt Sherry Cask
Helsinki Whiskey Rye Malt Sherry Cask gets its elegant taste from sherry casks. It is a rye malt whiskey, made only with Finnish malted rye and barley. The taste is a fine combination of rye spiciness and aromatic palates of the sherry.
Rye Malt Sherry Cask is first matured in ex-Bourbon casks and then finished in Sherry casks. It adheres to HDCO’s philosophy of taste: it is important that all elements are well balanced.
As a guarantee of quality every numbered bottle comes with the signature of Master Distiller Mikko Mykkänen.
Releases
The mash bill for the whiskey consists of 70% malted rye and 30% malted barley. The whiskey is distilled by hand and matured in selected ex-Bourbon casks. After maturation the Rye Malt Sherry Cask has been transferred to Oloroso and Pedro Ximenéz -sherry casks for finishing. Casks are selected by Master Blender Kai Kilpinen. Finishing takes six to twelve months. Bottled at 43% ABV to bring out the characteristics of sweet and fruity sherry aroma.

Nose
Vanilla and caramel from the oak cask, fruit notes from the Sherry mix with rye sweetness.
Flavor
Rich, fruity mouthfeel. Aroma has notes of sweet and spicy rye, vanilla, dried fruits, herbal notes, a little licorice root. Sweet and fruity sherry elements are balanced by malts and dark chocolate.
Aftertaste
Long spicy ryeness lingers on the insides of the cheeks. Fruitcake and cocoa.
